children-contact-lenses

Contact lens wear can have a positive effect on kids confidence and ability to concentrate in class, meaning better results and happier children.  If your child is active and plays sports, then contact lenses may be the ideal choice for them. No more smudged lenses, steaming up or costly broken frames. They will benefit visually from better depth perception, a wider field of view and all round better stability of vision.

We regularly prescribe contact lenses here at Waltham Abbey Opticians to children to help restore clear vision.

Are Contact lenses suitable for my child?

We generally recommend contact lenses for older children but our optometrist will assess each child individually and advise on whether they are suitable for contact lenses.  It often helps if a parent is a contact lens wearer as they can pass on their experience. Our caring and skilled staff will talk your child through how to insert and remove their lenses and look after them.

Great for kids that like sport

If your child is into sports, their spectacles may be a potential hazard. Children with moderate spectacle prescriptions often cannot see clearly beyond a few metres without their glasses and this can impair their performance. Children’s contact lenses can help to improve their hand eye co-ordination, their peripheral vision and safely improve their game.
