Our Sun Street Opticians is located in the heart of the historical town of Waltham Abbey at 31 Sun Street. We have been established since 1987 and have proudly served the eyecare needs of the local community ever since.

My glasses were broken and went in and was greeted very friendly and professional. I explained that my glasses one of sides glasses came don’t how. They explained to me what will happen and how the solve the problem and come back in a while. Came back glasses good as new and cleaned. My husband and I have been going to Waltham Abbey Opticians for many years. We have always found the staff very thorough and helpful. They have all the latest eye testing equipment. The staff are always welcoming and friendly. There is never any pressure to grab a new pair of glasses and run. You can take as long as you like and input from staff is very helpful. They are honest and will tell you if something doesn't suit you. Yes, it can be a bit on the expensive side but you definitely get what you pay for.read more

My review is a long time coming so apologies. I have been coming to this opticians for many years and you cannot fault the service given from Ashley or Sonia. Sonia the Optometrists, is very nice , makes you feel comfortable , very thorough and explains the machinery well.Ashley is so friendly, welcoming, beyond helpful and beyond patient! Ashley painstakingly helped me find the right glasses suitable for my face, and it took ages due to me not liking her vast selection of glasses. We found some and I was very pleased with them. I had lots of compliments too! I then had to tell Ashley 6 months later that id lost them.Ashley went above and beyond to help me find the same design as they had then become obsolete. I don't know anyone that helpful and i am truly grateful. Ashley really cares about each patient.Lastly, when refurbishing the shop, Ashely made the shop modern, stylish and added a tribute to the Abbey with photos from the old days. I thought this was a nice touch. I highly recommend Waltham Opticians.read more

I have been client of Waltham Abbey Opticians for many years. The staff are professional friendly and helpful. The Optician Sonia is excellent in her examination of the client eyes explaining in detail every step of the examination. Answering any questions the client may have. Ashley the Opticians manager is again very professional polite friendly and helpful when it comes to advice on glasses the client may need. Frames are on display in nice setting with a variety of frames on offer to accommodate the lens to go in them. The waiting area is very pleasant refreshments are available. The whole environment in the shop is very pleasant and relaxing. I can’t praise the knowledge, dedication and service of the team here enough. Every time I get my eyes checked, I really feel as if a very thorough job has been done and any issues identified and addressed. They will only sell you a product if it is suitable for you and as a result every time I get new glasses not only do they fit me perfectly, suit the shape of my face but also I can see perfectly. I have been to other Opticians where it has taken them weeks and on one occasion months to get my vision through the glasses correct but every time I pick up my new glasses from Waltham Abbey Opticians I can see perfectly from the offset. I will never go anywhere else and I will always recommend people to use their fabulous services. Keep up the good work guys.read more

Professional approach to issues you may be having. I have never been introduced to various laser checks like i was at this place. I needed to check my eyes properly due to a constant pain im having behind my left eye. I knew Sonia will be the one to trust with that. Very friendly place to be in. Definitely recommend Waltham Abbey Opticians, as they are very professional and very knowledgeable in all aspects of eye care. The eye test was excellent, and the lady doing the eye test was friendly and highly skilled in her job . Ashleigh the lady who advised me after my eye test was also friendly, and was also very skilled in her job. I've just been to this establishment in sun street and was greeted with a friendly smile straight away,was enquiring to change my lenses to another pair & was amazed at the great offer and price and left my glasses to be altered & within the hour I was called to say my glasses was ready for collection absolutely happy and recommended highly ive recently had to wear glasses just a shame I never thought to use this opticians before hand great service great friendly people great price 10/10 thank you so much 🙏read more

Sonia the optician leads a great team. She is highly professional and an expert at what she does. A great optician!It was four years since my last eye test and the whole customer experience was excellent. The eye test was in-depth and each procedure was explained in simple terms. When choosing my new glasses, the team were incredibly patient and took time to guide me to the right type of frame and lens. My glasses arrived quickly and great care was taken to ensure they fitted comfortably and correctly.A few weeks after wearing my new glasses, they were uncomfortable and when I returned to ask for some help, it was no trouble at all to slightly adjust them.Great communication and customer service throughout. Have been wearing glasses for over 20 years and this was by far the most positive exsperience that i have had in an opticians in a long time. I went in there looking for sunglasses, safety glasses and normal glasses all in my prescription. I had fairly specific requirements for each pair in terms of what they were for yet everything went smoothly and i got everything i needed. They took me through all the options in detail for different finishes ect but never pushed anything on me. They made it really easy to decide on what i needed rather than what was most exspensive. The advanced eye test that they carried out and subsequent updated prescription really made a huge difference straight away aswell. It just felt right in a way that i hadnt really ever felt before at other opticians straight after recieving my new prescription. Its genuinely made my vision feel rejuvinated and less frustrating in day to day life. So yeah was very pleased over all with my new prescription. AO stayed in contact to give updates on my orders and were easy to talk to, proffesional and helpful from beginining to end. I was buying some glasses with Oakley frames for example and was easilly able to communciate between oakley via the opticians if I had any questions about the lenses or frames. I was even able to talk directly to an Oakley representative whilst they were visiting the shop. Last but not least 'AO' also have some wonderful deals on most of their different ranges of glases, which was a huge bonus and made the exspereience even more enjoyable. So in conclusion, as you have probably guessed , I would like to thoroughly reccomend this opticians and once again thank all of the incredibly kind and helpful staff there for their time and helping me sort my new specs out. 🙂read more

My wife visited this opticians recently with my two girls. The level of care they received from the optometrist, Shamiala, was of such a professional standard. Shamiala managed to treat and relax the girls so well. My younger daughter (5years old) needed to have a special test with eye drops, and Shamiala made the whole experience for her so much more enjoyable - I believe the many years of experience of testing children at hospital can be seen. Once the tests were completed Ashley then helped go through the glasses selection. Ashley provided a high standard of care, to ensure the best frame fit was selected for my youngest. The customer care was above and beyond what I expected- Ashley even ordered a selection of colours to view before the final decision was made. After having a very thorough eye test I was told that I needed verifocals. The friendly staff helped me choose a pair of frames. I was a bit concerned that it would take me a while to get used to my new glasses, but much to my surprise, as soon as I put them on I could see and read perfectly. Well located opticians in town, so convenient to get to. Since I have recently moved to the area it was wonderful to receive such outstanding and friendly service. The eye test lady certainly knew her stuff and told me she also works for Moorfields Eye Hospital. Can’t get a better professional care than that!They tell me they have been on Sun Street for many years so they certainly know their stuff. They have an extensive range of frames and sunglasses and Ashley helped me choose the perfect pair. I am very picky, but she was patient and offered lots of advice about the fit and so on. You won’t get that kind of service from Specsavers and the like! Was offered an excellent deal on my new specs and monthly contact lenses (which they deliver straight to your door). I will be recommending them to all my friends and family.FYI: I think there are 2 opticians in Waltham Abbey, but this is the opticians right on the main street (no. 31 I believe) not the other one----don’t go to the wrong one!!read more
